Marvin the farmhand and the widow Bissel drove the cows into town to have them weighed on the blacksmith’s scale. And when the 16th had come off the scale, he announced his tally. “That drive weighs 14.9 boulders.”

“But it’s supposed to be 16. The merchant assured me that was a 16 gigagrain drive.”

The blacksmith shrugged. “Don’t know what to tell you. My scale might be off by a rock or two, but eleven hundred of them? No. You got swindled.”
