Momzer tells the widow to get lost

A few people had gathered to watch the negotiations. Momzer pointed forcefully off into the distance. “Leave now, Mistress. I will not brook such disrespect.”

The widow was surprised. She’d never heard of a merchant who wouldn’t haggle. As if reading her thoughts, Momzer continued to point as he said “I know the value and quality of my merchandise! And I could not part with this 16 gigagrain drive for less than four-point-nine rocks.”

Oh, he was being theatrical. The widow Bissel knew theatrical. Her cousin Blanche had run off with the circus. “Four-point-eight.”

Momzer lowered his hand and offered it to her. “You drive a hard bargain, Mistress.”
